Mysterious Kalmykia has become the leader in “quiet” tourism in Russia
Mysterious Kalmykia has become the leader in the growth rate of so-called “quiet” tourism in Russia. In 2025, the number of bookings in the republic increased by 41%, according to a joint study by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Association of Travel Aggregators (ATAG).

Number of birds in a colony of pink pelicans
In the south of Russia, in mysterious Kalmykia, experienced employees of the Black Lands Nature Reserve have completed monitoring the nesting colonies of the pink pelican, listed in the Red Book, on the islands of Lake Manych-Gudilo.
